Mr. Blake is the President, CEO, and founder of the Blake Willson Group, LLC (BWG). As the founder of BWG, he has led the company from a one-man band to becoming one of the fastest-growing small businesses in America.
The heart and soul of Blake Willson Group were derived from Mr. Blake’s upbringing as an underprivileged youth – where he developed an entrepreneurial spirit by 8 years of age flipping anything he could get his hands on for a profit; followed by his leadership endeavors in the United States Army’s 10th Mountain (Light Infantry) Division, where he conducted counter-insurgency efforts as a team leader during combat deployments.
Those experiences harnessed the power and confidence in the concepts of personal accountability, pulling oneself up by the bootstrap, perseverance, and Servant Leadership – all of which drove the vision to start Blake Willson Group, a company committed to serving others; others being both customers and BWG team members alike.
Mr. Blake has been honored with numerous accolades and business achievements from a 40 under 40 leadership award in the Greater Washington area, being ranked in the top of Inc 5000, Vet 100, and other veteran-owned business awards, but his most proud achievements to date are the ability to serve others through volunteering and other philanthropic efforts. Mr. Blake supports American Heart Association, Operation Restored Warrior, and various at-risk youth programs. Mr. Blake currently serves as a Regional President for Reuniting After War, a non-profit committed to reuniting combat veterans.
Mr. Griffin is Sr. Vice President of BWG, responsible for implementing strategies to meet company goals and objectives. This includes supervising Vice Presidents and Management team to enhance company growth, ensure efficient operations, and maintain compliance with company policies.
Mr. Griffin honed his leadership skills during his time at multiple Fortune 500 companies, highlighted by an inaugural 40 under 40 leadership award in February 2015 by his alma mater, East Carolina University. In his off time, Mr. Griffin can be found running and participating in philanthropic events. He is an avid marathoner, having qualified and run in the 2019 Boston Marathon, and active philanthropist supporting Tedy Tedy’s Team, a non-profit dedicated to assisting the American Stroke Association to reduce deaths from stroke.
Mr. Griffin holds a BSBA in Finance from East Carolina University, is well regarded as a Subject Matter Expert in DoD Financial Management. He maintains a Certified Defense Financial Manager (CDFM), and leads BWG’s corporate membership with the American Society of Military Comptrollers (ASMC), Association of Government Accountants (AGA), American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), Small and Emerging Contractors Advisory Forum (SECAF), and National Veteran Small Business Council (NVSBC).
Mr. Pupshis is Vice President of Service Delivery and responsible for the successful delivery of BWG’s multiply service options. This includes audit readiness, remediation and sustainability; financial and IT audits; financial reporting; internal controls; and many other financial, IT, program, and operational activities.
Mr. Pupshis possesses over 30 years of accounting, audit, and financial management experience and has successfully led large project teams addressing high-profile, complex Federal and commercial projects. He has audited Federal financial statements since 1996 and has worked with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the U.S. Department of Transportation, The U.S. Treasury, and various Department of Defense agencies. He has a detailed understanding of the various Federal budget authorities, including appropriated, non-appropriated, revolving, borrowing, and contracting authority, and has audited the Statement of Budgetary Resources and the Statement of Social Insurance from their inception.
Mr. Pupshis is a graduate of the Office of Personnel Management Leadership for a Democratic Society and holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Baltimore and a licensed CPA in both Maryland and the District of Columbia. He is also an active member of the Association of Government Accountants (AGA), American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), and the American Society of Military Comptrollers. He is also the active treasurer of the Maryland chapter of Heroes’ on the Water, a 100% volunteer dedicated to providing services to active duty and retired veterans and first responders.
Mr. Meyer is a Senior Manager at Blake Willson Group and leads the external business development efforts across the company. His responsibilities include business pipeline management, proposal development and submission, and providing support to project team leads in getting new projects off the ground.
Mr. Meyer began his leadership development as an auditor at a Big 4 accounting firm, serving clients in the commercial and federal sectors in the metropolitan D.C. area. After joining BWG, his dedication to clients and colleagues and his attitude towards learning and growth were instrumental in presenting opportunities to lead new ventures within the company.
Mr. Meyer holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business from Covenant College and is a licensed CPA in Virginia and a certified Project Management Professional (PMP). In his free time, he enjoys playing sports, traveling, and home renovations.
Ms. Dyess is the Operations Manager at Blake Willson Group and responsible for the company’s internal operations, streamlining and developing processes to improve overall efficiency. In this role, Ms. Dyess works closely with all departments and oversees day-to-day requirements and human resource initiatives.
Ms. Dyess joined Blake Willson Group as a leader in non-profit management with proven success in the growth and program development of community and philanthropic organizations across the Commonwealth of Virginia. Ms. Dyess is trained in individual crisis management and is equipped to support the engagement and well-being of the BWG team.
Ms. Dyess earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Neuroscience from The College of William and Mary. She serves as the Corporate Board President for Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Virginia, is a President’s Volunteer Service Award Recipient, an active member of the Association of the United States Army and leads BWG’s corporate membership with the Northern Virginia Chamber of Commerce.
